Lansing, Michigan: Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MIHIN) taps Stephen Shaya, M.D., EVP, Corporate Development and Innovation at J & B; Vince Guglielmetti, M.D. Chief Medical Officer of HNC Virtual Solutions; and Scott Monteith, M.D., MIHIN Board Member and co-lead of Population Behavioral Health for Trinity to participate on the following panel: “How Telecommunications Technology is Transforming Healthcare – A Look at Telemedicine.” Dr. Monteith moderated the panel.
“Whether it’s telemedicine, telehealth, video conferencing, mobile apps, or sensors, we are all going to live in a connected health environment. The key stakeholders need to have a strategy and vision for this rapidly approaching time,” Dr. Shaya said.
Dr. Guglielmetti noted, “Disruption is coming to health care. The concept of urgent cares will be dramatically different in five years, similar to how Netflix affected Blockbuster.”
“We cannot meet future needs without virtual tools such as telemedicine,” Dr. Monteith said.
Dr. Shaya ended with a quote from Steve Jobs: “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
